I read of Mrs. Ladd's passing in the paper on Monday and was so sad to realize that another lovely lady had left us. Throughout all the years that we visited whenever she came into the library, she proved that she was a woman of character. Always kind, always optimistic, she was a no nonsense practical lady and I liked her the first time that I met her. Her love of covered bridges made for delightful conversation and she shared details of what she'd seen every time she traveled out of the area to enjoy them. I marveled at her sense of independence and her sense of adventure. She took everything in stride, and I always felt that as a result, she taught me a lot. My sincere condolences to the entire family, of whom she spoke often, over the years.

To the Ladd Family, In checking the obituaries in the Batavia newspaper today read of the death of your mother. During the years 1964-1968 I worked at Lakeside as a practical nurse with your mother. She was such a wonderful person and such a caring nurse. I always enjoyed the evenings I would work with her and have often wondered if she still lived in the Bergen area. A special note to Eugene and Ron on the passing of your mom. It seems like just yesterday that I was hanging out at your house when we were just kids. Your mom was always so kind to me. I was always in awe as to how your mom kept track of all of you and worked. I continued contact with Ron in my career as the band director in Batavia and remember him especially on Memorial Day weekend when we held the Batavia Pageant of Bands. Eugene......I remember listening to WKBW radio as you followed that crazy show and how you laughed. I hope that you mom went in peace and has found rest. A special lady. Sincerely, Ken Hay
