Obituary of Henry B. Wright

Pavilion ~ Henry B. "Hank" Wright, age 94, formerly of W. Park Street, passed away Thursday evening,(July 23 , 2015) at the East Side Nursing Home in Warsaw. Mr. Wright was born March 7, 1921 in Rochester, N.Y., a son of the late James and Amelia Deissinger Wright. Hank enjoyed spending time with his family and especially enjoyed the visits with his twin granddaughters, Michele and Mary Beth and eating ice cream with them. He was a 1940 graduate of LeRoy High School. He was a WWII veteran, having served his country in the U.S. Army Air Force from 1942 until 1946 as a Crew Chief and Flight Engineer on a B-17 bomber. He worked at Lapp Insulator for over 45 years. Hank was dedicated to serving his community. He volunteered his service to many organizations. He was a member of the Pavilion United Methodist Church for 65 plus years, a Life member, of 65 plus years, of the Pavilion Fire Department, where he performed many duties. He was most noted for being the Fire Dept. Chaplain for many years. He was a Scoutmaster for the boy scouts for 17 years. He served as Justice of the Peace for over 35 years and was a member of the Genesee County Magistrates Association. He was also a town councilman for Pavilion. In 1992, Hank was selected as Geneseean of the Year. On June 9, 2004, the town park in Pavilion was renamed the Henry B. Wright Park in honor of dedication of services to the town. He belonged to the Young at Heart senior citizens club, where he served as president for a time. He was a volunteer driver for Genesee County's Road to Recovery, providing rides for cancer patients to and from their appointments. He also enjoyed being a grandparent reader for the first graders at the Dorothy B. Bunce Elementary School in Pavilion. Mr. Wright is survived by his sons, Douglas (Kathy) Wright of Pavilion and David Wright of Pavilion, his daughters, Ginger Sackel (Marjorie Wilkison) of Flatrock, NC and Phyllis (Dr. Mark) Hagen of Westfield, 8 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, sister-in-law, Mary Ellen Wright of LeRoy, along with many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife of 69 years, Frances Louise Wright on July 20, 2014 and his brother, Donald Wright Sr. Family and friends may call on Tuesday from 2 ~ 4 and 6 ~ 9 PM at the Falcone Family Funeral & Cremation Service Inc., 8700 Lake Road (Rt. 19), LeRoy. His Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday at 11:00 A.M. at the Pavilion United Methodist Church. Private interment to follow in the Pavilion Cemetery. Memorials may be made to either the Pavilion United Methodist Church or the Pavilion Fire Department.
