Obituary of Marietta J. Cordaro

LeRoy ~ Marietta J. Cordaro, age 84, of Stanley Place, passed away Tuesday morning (August 4, 2015) at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester with her loving family at her side. She was born March 2, 1931 in Mt. Morris, a daughter of the late Nunzio and Mary Zanghi Privitera. She was predeceased by her husband and love of her life, Joseph Cordaro, along with her brothers, Paul Privitera and Joseph Privitera. Marietta will be remembered as a loving matriarch, who adored her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed cooking and baking for family gatherings. She also enjoyed her friends and their "coffee time" together. She also had a passion for visiting Las Vegas and going to casinos to play the slots and bingo. She is survived by sons, Robert (Susan) Cordaro of Las Vegas and Joseph (Linda) Cordaro of Byron; a sister, Joan Clark of Rochester; sisters-in-law, Judy Privitera of NC and Betty Privitera of Dansville; grandchildren, Jennifer Cordaro (Oliver Gonzales), Nicholas (Melissa) Cordaro, Cara (Charles) McCann, Sherry (Jon) Askey and Joseph Cordaro, 11 Great-Grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and dear friends. Family and friends may call on Thursday from 10 AM ~ 1 PM at the Falcone Family Funeral & Cremation Service Inc., 8700 Lake Road (Rt. 19). Her Rite of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at 10 AM at Our Lady of Mercy Parish, St. Joseph's Oratory, 27 Lake Street, LeRoy. Interment in St. Francis Cemetery will be private. Memorial contributions in her memory may be made to the Palliative Care Program, University of Rochester Medical Center, 601 Elmwood Avenue, Box 687, Rochester, NY 14642.
