Obituary of Dennis L. Covey

LeRoy ~ Dennis L. Covey, age 62, of Linwood Road, passed away unexpectedly at home on Tuesday, August 18, 2015. He was born March 24, 1953 in Coudersport, PA, a son of the late Harold and Jeanette Sampson Covey. Dennis will be remembered as a very loving family man, who just adored his children and grandchildren. He loved all aspects of nature, especially fishing, and bird watching. He also was a diehard NY Yankees and Denver Broncos fan. He had a passion for the "small town atmosphere" of where he lived and grew up and was very proud of being an alum of the Caledonia-Mumford Red Raiders. He is survived by his loving fiancée, Patricia Canfield of LeRoy; his children, Major Carlton James Covey, M.D. with the U.S. Air Force, Bethesda, MD, Julie Ann Covey of Caledonia and Vicki (Tim) McArdle of Caledonia; step-children, Jamie (Chris DiRienzo) Canfield of Ithaca and Kyle (Melanie Issa) Canfield of LeRoy; grandchildren, Liam, Avalyn, Keegan and "Baby" McArdle and Ronan DiRienzo; siblings, Sylvia (Ronnie) Rothrock of Caledonia, Harold Eugene (Pat) Covey of Caledonia, Sonia (Jim) Appleton of Caledonia and Linda Covey of Frewsburg, NY; along with many nieces, nephews, dear friends and his beloved cat, Sam. There will be no prior visitation and services will be private at the family's convenience. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Cornell Lab of Ornithology – 159 Sapsucker Woods Rd.
