Obituary of Eleanor D. Cummings

LeRoy ~ Eleanor D. Cummings, age 91, formerly of LeRoy, passed away Wednesday afternoon (October 21, 2015) after an extended illness, at the home of her daughter in Keuka Park, N.Y. She was born April 4, 1924, in Oakfield, N.Y. , a daughter of the late Andrew and Estelle Myers Dries. She will be remembered as a very loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister, who was very devoted to her family. She was a graduate of the Harper Method Beauty School and the Rochester Business Institute, of which she was very proud. She loved gardening and had a strong faith with her Catholic upbringing. She was a longtime member of St. Peter's Church. She is survived by her children, Charles (Julie) Cummings Jr. of Henrietta, Marie (Gary) Cross of Conesus, William Cummings of LeRoy, Joan (Wayne) Sovocool of Madison, AL and Mary (Michael) Griffiths of Keuka Park; her siblings, Ruth Tusch of Ontario Center, Alfred Dries of Perry, Andrew Jr.(Mary) Dries of Bergen and Larry Dries of Union, ME; 13 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren, along with many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Charles A. Cummings Sr. in 2005 and her siblings, Joseph (Dorothy), Eugene (Marjorie), Paul (Nancy) and John (Mary) Dries. Family and friends may call on Sunday from 2 ~ 5 PM at the Falcone Family Funeral & Cremation Service Inc., 8700 Lake Road (Rt. 19). Her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday at 11:00 AM at Our Lady of Mercy Parish, St. Peter’s Church, 44 Lake Street, LeRoy. Interment will follow in St. Francis Cemetery.
