Obituary of Alfred L. Ziewers
Land O' Lakes, FL ~ Alfred L. Ziewers, age 89, formerly of E. Aurora, NY, passed away August 5, 2016 after a brief illness at Kindred Hospital in Tampa, Florida.
He was born and raised in Bennington, NY, where his family ran a grocery store. After his military service with the Army during the Korean War, he became a toy maker for Fisher Price for over 30 years. He was a band saw operator, cutting the wood making dogs, ducks and xylophone toys. He retired from toy making in 1983 and eventually made the decision in 1995 to move to Florida for the warmer weather.
Alfred had an outgoing, engaging and extraordinary personality, with a great outlook on life, and always kept a positive outlook that touched all those he met. There was always an air of excitement with Alfred; he was an antidote to becoming bored. He loved to visit his favorite coffee shops and engage in conversations with his friends.
He is survived by his three children, Mark Ziewers, Mary Ann Ziewers and Michael (Mary) Ziewers and two grandchildren, Eric and Tracey, along with many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sisters, Katherine Diemer and Lillian Nugent.
Services will be private. Memorials may be made to: Bennington Fire Department or Erie County SPCA.
