Obituary of Paul J. Lapp Jr.

Brighton ~ Paul J. Lapp Jr., age 86, formerly of LeRoy, passed away at home on Tuesday morning, October 10, 2017.
     He was born February 22, 1931 in Batavia, a son of the late Paul J. and Elizabeth Dowling Lapp Sr.
     Paul was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather.  He enjoyed playing football as a youth and became involved with and coached pop warner football in the local area.  Paul was involved with the Boy Scouts for many years and became the Scout Master for Troop 22.  He was a member of the Order of the Arrow and the recipient of many scouting awards.  He was a volunteer fireman and lifelong member of the Excelsior Hook & Ladder Co.  He was very active with St. Peter's Church, where he was a Eucharistic minister and served on the Catholic Charities committee.  He volunteered at Camp Good Days and Special Times for many years and after retirement, worked at the Genesee Country Museum and volunteered at the LeRoy House.  Paul enjoyed backpacking and hiking, wood working and gunsmithing. He was a member of Five Point Rod and Gun Club and an avid skeet shooter.
     He is survived by his children, Peg (Dave) Halligan of Pittsford and John (Linda) Lapp of Virginia; his grandchildren, Katie (Tyler) Jeffords, Ryan Lapp and Kevin Lapp; great-granddaughters, Emersyn and Elle Jeffords; sister, Virginia Curry of Stafford,  along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
     He was predeceased by his wife of 60 years, Patricia A. Lapp on July 19, 2017; grandson, Danny Lapp and his sister, Mary Margaret Scheuing.
     Family and friends are invited to attend his Rite of Christian Burial, which will be celebrated on Saturday at 11:00 A.M. at Our Lady of Mercy Parish, St. Peter's Church, 44 Lake Street, LeRoy, with interment to follow in St. Francis Cemetery.
     In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Camp Good Days & Special Times, P.O. Box 665, Mendon, N.Y. 14506.
     A special thank you to Lara Evans, MD, the staff of the Hawthorne at St. John's Meadows and Lifetime Home Health Care & Hospice for their care throughout Paul's illness.
