Obituary of Joseph A. Crnkovich
LeRoy ~ Joseph Crnkovich, age 87, passed away early Sunday morning (October 15, 2017) at the LeRoy Village Green Nursing Home.
He was born June 19, 1930 in Batavia, a son of the late Frank and Anna Lubonavich Crnkovich.
He is survived by his children, Linda (Sidney) Horgan, Robert (Sharon) Crnkovich and Joan (Fred) Mathers; grandchildren, Kevin, Danny, Brian, Laura, Michael and Rachel; 10 great-grandchildren; sister, Marian McGrath; brother, Dick (Donna) Crnkovich, devoted friend and companion, Jean Hume, along with many nieces, nephews and dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Carol; his brothers, Frank, John and Robert "Bert"; sisters-in-law, Shirley Crnkovich and June Crnkovich and brother-in-law, James "Pat" McGrath.
Joe was proud to be a lifelong LeRoyan. He loved LeRoy High School football, where he was a standout tight end. He was also their greatest fan, attending games for over 70 years. He was a strong, hard working man, who loved and was very proud of his family, helpful to any and all, wanting nothing in return.
He was a lover of the outdoors and a longtime member of the Oatka Fish and Game Club. He enjoyed cooking at the club, fishing, hunting, golfing and his daily walks around the village. He was also a longtime employee of Lapp Insulator Co. in LeRoy.
Family and friends may call on Wednesday from 4 ~ 7 P.M. at the Falcone Family Funeral & Cremation Service Inc., 8700 Lake Road (Rt. 19), LeRoy. His Rite of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday at 10:00 A.M. at Our Lady of Mercy Parish, St. Peter's Church, 44 Lake St., LeRoy. Interment will follow in St. Francis Cemetery.
