Obituary of Terry C. Rich

LeRoy ~ Terry C. Rich, age 71, of Wolcott Street, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday (May 29, 2018) while on a bus trip in Wildwood, N.J.

     He was born February 23, 1947 in Batavia, a son of the late Charles and Margaret Fagan Rich.

     Terry was a very loving husband, father and grandfather and a very caring and giving person throughout his community. He was a 1965 graduate of LeRoy High School and eventually earned his associates degree from Monroe Community College.  He was a very proud veteran of the US Air Force, where he served for 6 active years and an additional 20 years in the reserves prior to his retirement, at the rank of Master Sgt., in 2003.  He was a current member of the American Legion, Viet Nam Veterans, the LeRoy Moose Family Center and the Oatka Fish and Game Club; and a past member of the American Red Cross Disaster Action Team, the LeRoy Fire Dept., the Stafford Fire Dept., the Genesee County Haz-Mat Team and the Oatka Hose Club.

     He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 39 years, Kathleen Brown Rich; his daughter, Melissa (George) Surridge; his son, Andrew Rich; granddaughter, Kaitlyn VanValkenburg; sister, Patricia (John Eisenberg) Hopkins; mother-in-law, Barbara Brown, along with many dear friends.  In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his father-in-law, Howard Brown.

     Family and friends are invited to attend his Memorial Service on Saturday, June 9 at 1:00 PM at the Falcone Family Funeral & Cremation Service Inc., 8700 Lake Road, LeRoy, with military honors to follow.  Interment will be private.

     The courtesy of no flowers is requested with memorials suggested to either the American Legion Post #576 or the LeRoy Fire Department.
