Obituary of Helen L. Forbes

LeRoy ~ Helen L. (Daily) Forbes, 89, passed away on Tuesday, November 13, 2018. Helen was born on July 21, 1929, in Canton, OH, to Lester and Lavange (Lantry) Daily. She married the late Robert A. Forbes in 1947, and they settled in LeRoy, NY, in 1962.

     Helen was a member of LeRoy Presbyterian Church for 56 years, serving as both an elder and deacon. She was also a 56 year member of the Olive Branch Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star, serving as matron, grand officer, and secretary (the latter role for over 40 years). She also belonged to the American Legion Auxiliary for 39 years. Helen volunteered at Genesee Memorial Hospital (UMMC) in Batavia, for 40 years and helped with blood drives for the American Red Cross. She was an active member of the LeRoy Senior Citizens. Helen was employed by G.C. Murphy for 29 years and later worked at the Dollar Tree.

     Helen was predeceased by her husband, Robert, daughter, Barbara (Ronald) LaRocco, and sister, Geraldine (Edward) Simon. She is survived by her two beloved sons: David (Stella) and James Scott (Lisa); her dear grandchildren, Kim (Christopher) Bloome, Jennifer Forbes, Anne Forbes, Elizabeth Westen, Sarah Westen, Evelyn Green, Olivia Green, Eleanor Green, Caleb Green, Kevin (Amber) LaRocco, and Amy LaRocco; and wonderful great-grandchildren, Julie, Kate, Megan, Aiden, and Rylee.

     Friends may call Friday, November 16th from 7- 9 PM at the Falcone Family Funeral & Cremation Service Inc., 8700 Lake Street Rd., LeRoy, NY. A memorial service for Helen will be on Saturday, November 17th at 10AM at the LeRoy Presbyterian Church. Burial at Machpelah is private.
