Ron was a man of many passions, the first of which was spending time with his family, even coaching his children’s youth baseball and girls’ softball teams. He was an avid Buffalo Bills fan and season ticket holder, a fan of the Syracuse Orangemen and he was always cheering for the New York Yankees. He worked at LeRoy Machine for 35 years and retired as a supervisor in 1992. As a young man, Ron earned an honorable discharge from the United States National Guard. Ron served as a Commissioner of the LeRoy Fire Department and sat on the Board of Directors of the LeRoy Volunteer Ambulance. He was one of the original officers of the LeRoy Federal Credit Union and volunteered for many years for Hospice Family Care, earning the “Volunteer of the Year” Award in 1998.
Ron had a big heart and devoted time each day to take care of the cats in his barn out back, always making sure they were fed and had a warm place to stay. Whether it was Ronnie, Dad, Grandpa, or Gramps, he left a significant imprint on all our lives. He always knew how to bring a smile to your face, and any time spent with him, was spent laughing. His joyful, kind, warm and loving personality will be sorely missed by all who knew him.
