Obituary of Robert D. Myers
LeRoy / Stafford ~ Robert "Bob" D. Myers, age 81, of E. Bethany-LeRoy Road, passed away early Wednesday morning (Oct. 2, 2019) at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester.
He was born May 14, 1938 in Oil City, PA, a son of the late David and Alda McKinsey Myers.
Bob was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and dear friend, who enjoyed good conversation, bowling, bocce and showing antique cars. He retired from Lapp Insulator after 35+ years working as a millwright. He was most proud of his service for his country, having served 24 years, both active and reserve duty, with the U.S. Navy. He served on the USS Macon and retired as a 1st Class Petty Officer.
He will be sadly missed by his loving wife of 20 years, JoAnn Rumsey Myers; his children, Michael (Kim) Myers, Pamela Cross and Steve (Deena) Myers; step-children, Wendy Miller and Shelley (Rick) Scott; 8 grandchildren and 15 step-grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Bonnie Myers; special friends, Gary Miller and Ray Wagner, along with many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by his son-in-law, Lynn Cross, his sister and brother-in-law, Cora (Wallace) Howland and his brother, Glen Myers.
Family and friends may call on Sunday, Oct. 6 from 1 ~ 4 PM at the Falcone Family Funeral & Cremation Service Inc., 8700 Lake Road, LeRoy, where his funeral service will be held at 4:00 PM, followed by military honors.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to either the LeRoy First Presbyterian Church or the York VFW.
