Janet Capron

Obituary of Janet Ellen Capron

Janet Ellen Capron passed away at 76 years of age, on October 23, 2019 after a courageous battle with Parkinson’s disease at their home in Frostproof, Florida with her loving family by her side.

She was born on January 21, 1943 to the late John and Allie Ford of Celeron, NY. She graduated from Southwestern High School in 1961 and then attended classes at the Art Institute of Pittsburgh in Pennsylvania. She married Gary A. Capron, her high school sweetheart, on April 25, 1964. They went on to build a home and raise their three daughters. In her spare time she drew free-hand architectural sketches for a local company. During these early years, she became an active part of the church family at the Ashville United Methodist Church in Ashville, N.Y., pastored by John and Charlotte Cooke, who became lifelong dear friends of the family. They also managed a home for run-away youth in Busti, N.Y. and then moved to Lima, N.Y. where they attended and served the Lord at Elim Bible Institute for over 20 years.

In 2000, they semi-retired in Sebring, Florida, while managing a substantial Storage Facility. Then in 2012 they fully retired to the Whispering Pines community in Frostproof, Florida, where Janet continued sharing her love of life through her community involvement, game nights and inspiring life stories that she wrote for their community newsletters. During her last months, she was grateful for the faithful prayers and support of Pastor Parrott and his wife Joyce of First Christian Church of Frostproof, where she was a member.

She is survived by her best friend & husband of 55 years Gary A. Capron; their three loving daughters, Brenda Nowak (Rob), Deborah Hertzler (Neil), Christine Hamilton (Ron); cherished grandchildren, Ashley, Chad (Alison), Cody, Jake, Paige (Mike), Kyle, Grant; great grandchildren Jerrick, Deliah, Kennedy, Julien, Jaeger, Carmen; dear sister Joanne Paipona; and many precious extended family members and friends. She was predeceased by her parents, and daughter, Julie.

Her memory will live on in the hearts and memories of everyone she interacted with. She loved a good cup of coffee, game of Scrabble, root beer floats and apple pie. She will be remembered for her beautiful smile, sparkling blue eyes, infectious laughter, intense loyalty to her family and friends, her love for the Lord, as well as her enjoyment of all the simple things in life.  She will forever be in our hearts.

Please share photos and memories that celebrate her life, with her family.   No formal services are planned at this time.
