Obituary of John W. Speidel

Batavia ~ John W. Speidel, age 85, passed away peacefully on December 13, 2020.

     He was the beloved husband of Sieglinde (Lynne) for 62 wonderful years, devoted father of Susan (Chris) Edelman, Timothy (Lisa) Speidel, Stephen (Laura) Speidel and Daniel (Carol) Speidel; loving grandfather of 11 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.  Also survived by his loving sister, Margaret King of Batavia; 3 brothers and sisters-in-law, along with many cousins, nieces and nephews.

     John was a blacksmith, welder and ran the family business with his father, Speidel Welding Service.  Many homes and businesses enjoy a "Speidel built" wrought iron railing in Genesee County.  John ended his career as an Iron Worker out of Local 33.  He was a veteran of the US Army, reaching the rank of Sergeant before his honorable discharge.

     John was also a Deacon and lifelong member of the New Apostolic Church in Batavia.  He brought joy wherever he was and had many special connections within the community.  He will be missed dearly.

     Visitation will be held on Friday, December 18th from 4:30 ~ 7 P.M. at Falcone Family Funeral & Cremation Service Inc., 8700 Lake Road (Rt. 19), LeRoy, NY.  (Funeral home occupancy will be limited to 33% capacity during the course of visitation and face masks are required.)
